[...] chartreuse (BETA) is often a very insightful blog. “Char” is a pretty sharp guy with short, smart posts about the “new media”. Today he explores the MySpace phenom and suggests that maybe we aren’t looking for hundreds of friends and people to connect to: “Maybe all the kids on MySpace aren’t looking for more friends … Maybe they are just looking for one” (emphasis his). I agree if he were to mean I’m looking for “the one”. As in, the one that brings the best out of me. The one who best compliments me, understands my values, helps me succeed, helps me when I need it most (etcetera). I have a lot of jobs because I’m looking for “the one” and I won’t find it without looking around. The same applies here. I have a large network of friends. I’d like to get to know them all a lot better but I’m really looking to bring “the one” into my inner circle. The best part: “the one” isn’t a quantity, it’s a quality. [...]

[...] I quickly decided that my level of achievement was acceptable. I also decided that the more balls I juggle, the more I’ll tend drop. When I become very busy (as mentioned previously) I get burnt out. In fact, we all do. I’m sure Noah can agree, he’s been the busiest guy I know. That’s okay though, he and I managed to record two podcasts this week! [...]

I think you've got exactly the right idea, and I agree with you on work/FastCompany vs textbooks...

fyi, many of your links are broken, and I really did want to see where they went (Ramit Sethi, biphasic sleep).

"To that I say: screw you, too." -- that's fantastic.
