Well, the fun has come to an end. The lifestyle that comes with “Winter Break” is now out the window. I’m now back to an alarm clock, driving in traffic and having responsibilities. That’s right, I’m back to work (school starts next week). While I sat thinking about how much I don’t want to go back I realized there’s so much I can get out of going to work…

Cheaper water bills

Every day you arrive at work, use the bathroom. You know what I mean, too. Get your body in the habit of taking care of business in the morning. That’s fifteen free minutes to yourself (read: not working) and you get the luxury of using someone else’s water. Heck, if you’re lucky you could probably do this twice a day. Think of all the water you’ll save each month. By my calculations that’s nearly 37-cents each month. Take that, employer!

Bonus: Bring lots of bottles to work. Bring home that nice distilled water they have in the cafeteria.

Free napkins

I can be a messy eater. Sometimes I’ll go through two or three napkins per meal. That adds up pretty quickly. Good thing I’ve started taking lots of napkins from the cafeteria. I figure if I stockpile enough I can give up paper towels, too. Potential savings? At least five bucks every other month. Keep in mind, a Chipotle burrito costs $5.73. Nuff said.

Saving energy

Energy isn’t cheap. In fact, I know I use more than I should. That’s okay though. By packing in my iPod, laptop, cellphone and Bluetooth headset to work I can charge them all from the comfort of my desk. No longer will I waste useless kilowatts at home.

Bonus: Find a way to bring a chargeable battery to work. Use it to run appliances like the toaster every morning.
