Last year I asked what you would do with your “extra” hour (thanks to DST):
What if we had an extra hour every day? How would you spend your time? I’d probably use that hour to read a book. No matter how I try I have a hard time fitting time in to just sit down and read.
Obviously the problem being we don’t have an extra hour every day. But it brings me back to an important theme in my life: priorities. If you had an extra hour what would you do (more of, or in addition) and if you only had 23 hours what would you do (less of, or eliminate entirely)?
- An extra hour: I would use my bonus hour every day to contact a friend (new, old, never met before). As you go through life and realize that you’re becoming defined by your work/hobbies you realize that once those are gone its your friends that are left.
- Lost an hour: If I had to eliminate an hour of something from my life it would be time spent driving. Unfortunately I can’t do that right now but I’m working towards it by moving closing to my work.
Personally, I think we have more than enough hours in the day. I’ve worked towards becoming a simpler person. Less clothes, less knick-knacks, less toys, less clutter, less work. It makes things more pleasant and if we lost an hour every day we’d all be forced to look at what’s important.

You’ve got the right idea, Devin.
Too many people don’t stop to think how even a few minutes a day add up.
Five minutes a day spent doing whatever is 34 hours per annum, almost a work week in the U.S.
One hour a day spent driving is more than 9 forty-hour work weeks per annum of tedium.
My goal is to spend at least an hour a day having sex, even if it’s only with myself.
I consider it time well spent.;-)
Definitely one of
yourthe best comments on here, Vince. Thanks, bro.
That moment when you realize you’re spending your entire adult life working and surviving. That just happened to me recently. I mean, what the hell am I working for if not to do things I enjoy? Instead I spent so many days going home to pass out of exhaustion.
So, simplify it is. I’d spend my hour doing something, anything, that I really enjoy. No phones, no tv, me and another person connecting.
Good answer, Kiraa. I’m with you on that…
How great would it be if I didn’t have to fight for time to finish watching Arrested Development? Ah, watching the triumphs of the Bluths is definitely what I would do with my extra hour. I love George Michael…
